The U-District’s Slate Coffee is a really cool place to enjoy a great cup of coffee and get some work done.
Vibe: The decor is very modern with slick industrial modern feeling. They have ample space to use their free WiFi and definitely seems as if they are catering to UW students. There is a loft area overlooking the main floor of the coffee shop. It provides a cozy place that feels secluded enough to focus on the work at hand.
Music: One of the things that I really enjoyed about the space is the music. They played chill dance music like Odeza’s Bloom. The music helps establish a very calm atmosphere allowing you to fully enjoy the space with minimal distractions
Coffee: The coffee was excellent. Slate Coffee is a Seattle based roaster. I had a drip coffee made from the Cream + Sugar roast.

This coffee blend is designed to be creamy, sweet, and balanced. A cup of coffee that you can rely upon, and find yourself coming back to day after day. This is a dual seed blend composed of a washed coffee from Colombia and a washed coffee from Peru. Together they make a coffee which offers no surprises… and we think that can be a good thing. This is a simple coffee that tastes like coffee. Look for notes of dark chocolate, toasted almond, and brown sugar.
